Testo e musica nei libri d’ore

Abstract

Si enuclea la struttura di alcuni Uffici presenti nei libri d'ore italiani prima di evidenziare l'apporto che tali documenti possono dare alla conoscenza dei repertori musicali. I testi delle Ore tramandano talora reliquie di antiche tradizioni liturgiche locali; in altri casi nelle Ore sono proposti come antifone e responsori nuovi testi devozionali che non si trovano nei successivi codici di canto liturgico “monodico”, ma che potrebbero essere stati assunti in rielaborazioni polifoniche.

This article displays the structure of some ʻofficiʼ from Italian booksof hours and then highlights the contribution that these sources can give to the knowledge of musical repertoires.
Sometimes these texts hand down relics of ancient and local liturgical traditions; in other cases, new devotional texts are used as antiphons and responsories. These texts, which we don’t find in later liturgical codex of ʻmonodicʼ chant, may have been adopted in polyphonic settings.
