Intorno a Ennio Porrino: (re)visioni del patrimonio tradizionale nelle Celebrazioni sarde del 1937
Abstract
In October 1937, on the occasion of the Celebrazioni della Sardegna (a celebration organized by the Confederazione Fascista dei Professionisti e degli Artisti), Bossi, Casella, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Fasano, Lualdi, Pizzetti, Porrino and Zandonai were appointed to compose some pieces re-elaborating texts and musical materials of ‘Sardinian heritage’. Currently, these compositions exist almost exclusively in manuscript form; they are kept in the library of Conservatorio “G. Pierluigi da Palestrina” in Cagliari. The essay examines these specimens in order to look at sources, materials, conceptions and views that could have meddled and overlapped in the process of appropriation and re-elaboration of the so-called ‘folk heritage’ within the context of academic composition.
