«Successi del mondo» (1645-1669): spoglio delle notizie di interesse musicale

Abstract

Il 1°  febbraio 1645 vide la luce nella capitale sabauda il primo numero dei «Successi del mondo», gazzetta voluta dalla duchessa reggente, Cristina di Francia, che concesse all'abate Pietro Antonio Socini il privilegio di stampare notizie relative alla città di Torino - e non solo - servendosi dello stampatore ducale Giovanni Sinibaldo. I «Successi», che sopravvissero fino al 1669, uscivano due volte la settimana dando conto dei principali avvenimenti riguardanti le più importanti corti europee, con particolare attenzione alle questioni belliche e politico-dinastiche. A parte venivano talvolta stampati opuscoletti, panegirici, relazioni su battaglie, tumulti o altre questioni politiche, che ancora oggi capita di trovare  allegati agli esemplari.

Dopo una breve introduzione che ricostruisce, anche attraverso i documenti d'archivio, le principali tappe della vita della gazzetta e del suo fondatore, il contributo propone la trascrizione delle notizie di interesse musicale rinvenute negli esemplari a noi noti (conservati a Torino presso la Biblioteca Nazionale Universitaria, la Biblioteca Reale e l’Archivio Storico della Città, e nella Città del Vaticano presso la Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana). Tralasciando i generici riferimenti ai Te Deum, cantati ad ogni piè sospinto, si tratta di notizie (spesso ignorate dalla letteratura di riferimento) relative a feste e spettacoli allestiti per lo più presso la corte francese e quella sabauda, con particolare attenzione agli aspetti dinastici, cerimoniali e spettacolari. Lo spoglio è corredato dagli indici dei nomi e dei titoli di interesse musicale.

«Successi del mondo» (1645-1669): culling of news items of musical interest

On February 1, 1645 the first number of “Successi del mondo” appeared in the news-stands of the Savoy capital, a gazette published by express wish of the Regent, Grand Duchess Cristina of France, who granted Abbot Pietro Antonio Socini not only the privilege of printing items of news concerning Turin, but also the possibility of using the ducal printer, Giovanni Sinibaldo. The “Successes”, which continued up to 1669, came out twice a week and recounted the principal events occurring at the most important European courts, with particular attention to war correspondence and political-dynastic issues. Sometimes laudatory pamphlets, reports of battles, riots or other political events were printed separately and can still be found today attached to copies of the gazette.

After a short introduction reconstructing – also by means of archive documents – the main stages in the life of the gazette and of its founder, the article proposes the transcription of news items of musical interest discovered in the examples examined (preserved at Turin in the Biblioteca Nazionale Universitaria, the Biblioteca Reale and the city’s Historical Archive and at Rome in the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana of Vatican City), ignoring the multitude of generic references to the singing of Te Deums and concentrating on the accounts (often ignored by reference literature) on the festivities and entertainments organized for the most part at the French and Savoy courts, with particular attention to the dynastic, ceremonial and spectacular aspects. The examination is accompanied by indexes of the names and headlines of musical interest.
