Francesco Maria Benedetti. Catalogo tematico delle opere
Abstract

Francesco Maria Benedetti. A Thematic Catalog of His Works.
Francesco Maria Benedetti was a Minor Conventual friar. Born in Assisi by December 1683, he was chapel master at various churches in Central and Northern Italy and organist at the St. Francis Basilica, Assisi and at the Città di Castello church (1704). He was elected chapel master at the St. Francis convent, Turin, in 1706, and by 1711 moved again to Assisi, holding the same position till 1716, when he was called back to Turin. He was then magister musices at the Aosta Cathedral from 1721 to 1727 and spent the rest of his life in Assisi, where he died in July 1749. A very prolific composer, Benedetti mainly left sacred music, but also many cantatas, an oratorio, instrumental pieces, and a music theory book. Most of his works sit now in two music collections, at the Aosta Chapter and at the Assisi Sacred Convent. Our thematic catalog is organized by genre and — for sacred music — by liturgical destination.
