Abstract

This paper aims to shed light on the operatic production systems in Eastern Adriatic theatres, analysing the activity of impresari operating between Pula and Dubrovnik and their connections to singers, directors of theatres and editors. Who were the impresari active in Istria and Dalmatia? Where did they come from? What were the strategies used to ensure one or more operatic seasons along the coast? The archival material collected to date allows us to gain an insight into how opera was proposed, and into the networks between institutions. Thanks to the correspondence of the time, we can also reconstruct the routes that costumes, scores, scenographies and people had to follow to reach the coast.
