The Conservatoire de la Vallée d’Aoste library. New entries, including some Mercadante autographs
Abstract
An inventory has been compiled of some ninety manuscripts the Conservatoire de la Vallée d’Aoste acquired in 2019. It lists scores and parts by thirty-four composers, active between the late 18th century and mid-20th century. It consists of symphonic, chamber, and solo pieces, both sacred and secular, including autographs and unica by famous and obscure musicians. Saverio Mercadante stands out in terms of quantity and interest with about forty titles, some hitherto unknown. Agostino Belloli, Giuseppe Gazzaniga, Giovanni Bottesini, Giulio Briccialdi, Adolfo and Luca Fumagalli, Ruggero Manna, Giovanni Battista Meiners, Emma Bianchini, Alfredo Catalani, Guido Alberto Fano, Vincenzo Ferroni, Paolo Serrao, Adriano Lualdi, Salvatore Musella, Guido Ragni, Giovanni Spezzaferri, Camillo Togni, Giulio Viozzi, and others are also present, occasionally with unknown titles or alternate versions of known ones.
