On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven, the Società Italiana di Musicologia is pleased to announce the publication of the first volume of the series Le sonate per Pianoforte di Beethoven (Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas).
The first part of this book brings the reader closer to the way Beethoven and his contemporaries
conceived this musical genre. The second part is an introduction to the study of the theory of the
musical form. The third part explores the aspects related to their meaning (hermeneutical approach,
theory of topoi, etc.) and aspects of historically informed performance practice.
