13–15 April 2026, online
The Italian Society of Musicology is promoting the first edition of SIdM Open Week, a cycle of online study days aimed at young scholars who have developed research in the fields of musicology and ethnomusicology within the framework of master’s degree programmes.
The initiative will take place from 13 to 15 April 2026 online and will offer a space for scholarly exchange dedicated to the presentation of master’s theses that are either in the final stages of completion (with discussion scheduled for the 2025/2026 academic year) or defended in the 2024/2025 academic year, both at universities and conservatories. The aim of SIdM Open Week is to encourage the circulation of recent research, promote dialogue between young scholars and the scholarly community, and enhance lines of inquiry that often remain little visible outside their university or conservatory of origin.
The call welcomes proposals relating to any field of musical studies, including, by way of example, music history, musical philology, musical dramaturgy, analysis, aesthetics, performance studies, ethnomusicology, interdisciplinary studies, and digital humanities applied to music.
Each presentation should last approximately 15 minutes, followed by discussion. Sessions will be organized according to thematic affinity.
