Italian Society of Musicology
Founded on 29 February 1964 in Milan, the Italian Society of Musicology (SIdM) draws inspiration from the legacy of the Association of Italian Musicologists. Its first president was Guglielmo Barblan.
From the outset, the Society has focused its activities on promoting musicological research through scientific publications.
Since 1966, it has published the Rivista Italiana di Musicologia (Italian Journal of Musicology), a reference point for scholars and enthusiasts, accompanied by the Quaderni della Rivista Italiana di Musicologia (Italian Journal of Musicology Notebooks) series. The journal features essays, reviews and news from the world of musicology and has been published continuously for over half a century.
