About us

The Italian Society of Musicology was founded in Milan, at the G. Verdi Conservatory, on 29 February 1964, drawing inspiration from the work of the Association of Italian Musicologists. Guglielmo Barblan was elected president. The first two years of the association’s existence were devoted to launching publications: first, the musicological journal of the Society, the Rivista Italiana di Musicologia, and second, the series Quaderni della Rivista Italiana di Musicologia.
