The Musicological Teaching section of the Italian Society of Musicology is promoting a webinar dedicated to the methodologies and tools of distance learning for musicological disciplines in upper secondary schools, AFAM institutions, and universities.
The current emergency and the forms of distance learning activated in schools of every order and level have had a profound impact on musicological teaching and on those who daily take on the task of transmitting research methodologies and bodies of knowledge. It is not merely a matter of updating tools and learning to make use of the possibilities offered by digital technology. The lack of direct human contact compels us to rethink communicative mechanisms and to develop new strategies for the transmission and sharing of knowledge. It is therefore appropriate to reflect on a transformation that will have a long-lasting effect, far beyond the present emergency situation, on the work of those entrusted with educating students in music and musicological research.
