The Italian Society of Musicology is pleased to announce that the SIdM Prize for the best undergraduate thesis – Fifth Edition (2025) has been awarded to Federico Filippi Prévost de Bord for his thesis entitled: Beschreibungen neuerfundener Instrumente: Newly Invented Musical Instruments in the First Series of the *Allgemeine Musikalische Zeitung (1798–1848).
The decision was taken unanimously by the Committee comprising Maria Teresa Arfini, Christoph Flamm, Lorenzo Mattei, Barbara Nestola and Massimo Privitera (chair).
A special mention was also awarded to Lorenzo Giustozzi for his thesis Edizione e studio genetico dell’abbozzo in partitura della Quarta Sinfonia (terzo movimento) di Gustav Mahler.
The Italian Society of Musicology congratulates the winner and the candidate receiving the special mention.
