Intorno a un'esperienza fiorentina di ricerca musicale (1987-2022)" (Squilibri, 2023), concerning the history of Tempo Reale, the main Italian research centre on electronic and digital music. Questions and comments from participants will be welcome.

Michael Clarke e Makis Solomos discuteranno intorno al libro di Riccardo Wanke "Sound in the Ecstatic-Materialist Perspective on Experimental Music" (Routledge, 2021) incentrato sulle forme dell'ascolto delle musiche d'arte contemporanee. Domande e commenti da parte del pubblico sono benvenuti.

Riccardo D. Wanke, è musicista e accademico, Attivo dal 1995, i suoi interessi spaziano la teoria e l’analisi della musica del secolo XX e XXI e la psicoacustica della musica. È autore del libro Sound in The Ecstatic-Materialist Perspective on Experimental Music pubblicato da Routledge nel 2021, e di altre pubblicazioni in musicologia, teoria, estetica, analisi, e studi di percezione. Ha studiato acustica, chimica, pianoforte, sassofono, armonia, tecniche di improvvisazione e attualmente è membro del “Centre for the Study of the Sociology and Aesthetics of Music” presso l’Università NOVA di Lisbona (PT). È professore a contratto (laurea e master) nelle aree di teoria e analisi della musica del XX e XXI secolo, e acustica e psicoacustica della musica. In qualità di compositore e performer ha suonato dal vivo in tutto il mondo e pubblicato musica per etichette internazionali (USA, CH, IT, PT, MX). (www.rdwmusic.com)

The event is free and open to anyone. The discussion will be in English and it will flow informally around Nakai’s book on David Tudor, concerning electronic instruments, schematics, puzzles, archives… and more. Questions and comments from participants will be welcome.

You Nakai (The University of Tokio)
Laura Zattra (IRCAM/ Bologna, Castelfranco, and Rovigo Conservatories)

You Nakai fabricates music(ians), dance(rs), haunted musical houses, nursery rhymes, and other forms of performances as a member of No Collective (nocollective.com), and publishes experimental children’s books and other literary oddities as a member of Already Not Yet (alreadynotyet.org). His extensive research on David Tudor’s music has been published as Reminded by the Instruments: David Tudor’s Music (Oxford University Press, 2021, remindedbytheinstruments.info). Other recent Tudor-related outputs include the double LP+booklet, Monobirds: From Ahmedabad to Xenon (https://topos.media/physical/topos09.html). He is currently affiliated with the University of Tokyo where he teaches “Archi-Choreographies,” "Zoomusic" and “Non-Natural History of Influence,” as well as the Kyoto City University of Arts where he teaches “Fake Western Music History” and “Experimental Pet Sounds.”
